Track & Field

Track and Field is the oldest sport offered by Special Olympics and is the most popular. Almost every athlete enrolled in the Special Olympics D.C. program competes in track and field. Participants of all abilities compete in track events ranging from wheelchair races to the 200 meters to the 25 meter walk. Field events ranging from the shot put to the standing long jump are offered. 4 x 100 meter relay teams compete against each other as well. Athletes train each week with their schools and agencies throughout the District of Columbia.
