Tennis

Overview: Tennis is a lifelong sport offered to athletes representing a spectrum of ages. Singles and Doubles match play training and competition opportunities are enjoyed by young and older adults as well as by high school players. Tennis Individual Skills is a program for school-aged athletes and beginner adults who are learning the basic skills and tactics of the sport.

Practices focus on providing each athlete with skill instruction, confidence-building, and enjoyment of the sport. A culminating event is held at the conclusion of the season where players showcase their skills and compete against fellow Special Olympics athletes of similar abilities and ages.

Tennis Individual Skills participants train and compete in the fall season at Turkey Thicket Recreation Center. Players who participate in Singles and Doubles match play train during the spring season at Turkey Thicket and compete at the Summer Games at Catholic University.
