Speed Skating

Speed Skating introduces Special Olympics D.C. athletes to the joy of winter sports participation. The program is designed to teach youths the fundamentals of skating while also challenging athletes who are more adept on the ice. Training programs are offered to skaters of all ability levels. For lower level and beginner athletes, a training sled is used on the ice to give support and build confidence. Moderate to higher level athletes train and compete in sanctioned speed skating races from 111 meters to 500 meters.
