Bowling



Bowling is the second most popular sport in Special Olympics D.C., and is appealing to athletes of all ages and ability levels. Bowlers train and compete at the AMF Capital Plaza Bowling Center and at AMF Marlow Heights Bowling Center for 10 weeks. Competition is held in singles play primarily, with Unified Doubles Bowling also offered for a select number of adult teams. A Unified Doubles Bowling Team is composed of one bowler with an intellectual disability and one bowler without an intellectual disability. Special Olympics D.C. also provides ramp bowling for participants who use wheelchairs or walkers, or who have more pronounced limitations.
