Sports & Competitions
Special Olympics D.C. offers a variety of quality sports experiences for athletes of all ages and ability levels. Each season there are individual sports and team sports; activities for lower ability athletes; and inclusive Unified Sports® programs that bring together participants with and without intellectual disabilities on the same sports teams.
Training seasons are a minimum of eight weeks and each ends with a culminating championship competition.
In the Fall Season, Basketball, Golf, Tennis Individual Skills, Motor Activities Training Program, and Unified Bocce are offered. Championship competition is conducted at the Fall Sports Classic.
The Winter Season has Bowling, Speed Skating, Motor Activities Training Program, Unified Basketball, and Basketball Individual Skills, with championship competition conducted at the Winter Sports Classic.
The Spring Season is comprised of Bocce, Soccer, Tennis, Track and Field, Volleyball, Unified Soccer, Unified Volleyball, Motor Activities Training Program, and Aquatics. It culminates with the highlight of the program year, the Summer Games at Catholic University.
